Watkins Glen, New York
The First Independent Adventure
July 12 and 13th, 2024
My friend Madeleine and I adventured to New York to visit the southern part of the finger lakes. We stopped in at a diner to grab a quick bite, then visited the Rockwell Museum. When we arrived at our Airbnb, we got ready to eat out by the water. We went to bed early to greet the world before the sun the following day. We were one of the first ones to begin the hike in Watkins Glen. After a few hours of adventuring we began our trip back home.
The Rockwell Museum, in Corning, New York, was very fascinating and quaint. The art was beautiful and the museum displayed local historic treasures. They were showing a photographer named William Wegman who photographs his dog in adorable situations.
Seneca Harbor Station Restaurant served wonderful meals and delicious bread. (I am just a bread lover). We sat right by the water, in the warm sun with a slight breeze. After dinner, we walked on the dock toward this rocky pier to look out to the lake. It was breath-taking. After about an hour of wandering around we ate ice cream at a Ben and Jerry’s down the road from the restaurant.
Watkins Glen, contains 19 beautiful waterfalls among the entire trail. It took us about 2 hours to complete walking up rock staircases, through minautre caves and feeling inspired by the sound of the water falling around us. I recommend this travel spot it was absolutely phenomenal.
