A sunrise with the Lord
July 21st, 2024
One Sunday morning, I planned to go on a sunrise hike to improve my relationship with the Lord. I drove about 30 minutes after waking up around four am and began the hike to the top. As I reached the top, I read my bible and took some time to just enjoy the view.
The hike up started out dark and slightly fearful, but as the sun rose my path became clearer. I was mindful of each step I took and trusted that God was walking with me. I kept getting more anxious to witness the beauty waiting for me at the top of the mountain. Nearing the top, I ran into a friend, the porcupine. I was a bit startled at first, but eventually he ventured off and I was able to continue up the path. Looking out over the beautiful view, I opened my bible and began to read. Feeling God’s presence I spoke with Him and invited Him to stay with me the rest of the day.
I am very grateful that I was able to hike up a steep hill, to witness a view that was made just for me that morning. I felt at peace standing at the top, looking over at the start of a new day. Suddenly, life wasn’t so scary and I could just be.
